Wearable Art with Olli Hull – MAKE

Thursday 5 June
10:50 – 13:00
Makers Space

Transform your old clothing into wearable art in this fun upcycling workshop with artist Olli Hull.

Join artist and designer Olli Hull for a creative workshop where participants will explore the transformative power of upcycling. Olli will guide you through a series of customising techniques — painting, stencilling, dyeing, and fabric distressing — showing how you can turn second-hand clothing into personal pieces of wearable art.

Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with these techniques on their own garments, turning them into personal statements of identity. Olli will be on hand to provide guidance and support, helping each participant realise their vision, whether they are new to upcycling or looking to refine their skills.

At the end of the session, participants will present their pieces to each other and discuss their creative process. This workshop offers the chance to explore the playful, experimental side of upcycling, while learning techniques that can easily be applied at home.

Olli Hull
Olli Hull is an artist and designer who creates one of a kind pieces of wearable art. His garments are up-cycled from vintage and second hand clothing and each piece is hand painted by Olli himself. Olli’s collections are bold and honest and inspired by his own experiences with gender and identity. By creating clothing that embodies his lived experience, Olli aims to protest against the beliefs that keep art and fashion separate and inaccessible. “By bringing art out of the galleries and onto clothing, marrying art and fashion, we can become walking emblems of our ideas, experiences and beliefs, and we can create opportunities to have the conversations that for too long have mainly resided in art schools and academic settings”.
