Student Takeover: Remake and Restore Workshop

Monday, September 27th 5.30 – 7.30pm
The Lab E20

Join us for an evening of upcycling and repair with textile and craft studio, Make Town, and mending experts, Restoration London. Come along to master a new craft, learn how to extend the life of your clothing and connect with like-minded creatives.

Please note: to get the most out of this workshop, you may only sign up to one craft workshop with either Make Town or Restoration London.

Make Town
Sign up for a workshop dedicated to relaxing stitching, guided mending and repair.

Pick up a needle and practice stitches that can be used practically on the contents of your wardrobe. Play with colour and texture, discover visible mending and creative embellishments to bring new life into tired garments and long forgotten items at the back of your wardrobe. If you have something with holes, bring it along and let’s see what we can do, otherwise we will have materials for you to play with. Learn the skills and make Grandma super proud.

Restoration London
Come and learn the traditional Japanese mending embroidery method of Sashiko and Boro stitching – to fix and revive your damaged or old clothing!

During this 2 hour workshop, you will be given an introduction to the traditional Japanese method of mending with Sashiko and Boro embroidery and using beautiful fabrics as patches to fix any holes in your clothing. You will have a range of Sashiko stencil designs to choose from, and our friendly tutor will give you design suggestions on how to layer up your patches, to give that authentic Japanese Boro effect.
