Knitted T-Shirt Bags with Geo Knits Slow – MAKE

Thursday 5 June
15:50 – 18:00 | 17:50-20:00
Makers Space | The Mezzanine (above the Real Greek), Old Spitalfields Market, 6 Horner Square, London E1 6EW

Learn how to knit a bag out of second-hand T-shirts in this inventive, beginner-friendly workshop.

In this hands-on workshop led by fashion designer Geo Knits Slow, part of the Alterist Community, participants will be guided to create their own mini knitted bag using yarn made from second-hand T-shirts. No previous knitting experience is required, and all skill levels are warmly welcomed.

The session begins with a short introduction to the process and a conversation about how garments that are no longer worn can be transformed into yarn. Participants will then spend time cutting and preparing their own T-shirt yarn before moving on to knitting the structure of their bag using a simple pattern designed especially for the workshop.

For this workshop, please bring along two old T-shirts you’d be happy to turn into a bag.

Geo Knits Slow
Geo Knits Slow is an independent knitwear practitioner with a diy spirit. Geo hand knits one off pieces using her own hand made yarns. These are created from cutting up 2nd hand textiles, old garments and fashion industry waste. Geo also offers knitting workshops so that everyone can learn to knit out of their own garments.
