Grow – Good Work for Fashion

One of the stand-out events for industry professionals, start-ups and SMEs was a dynamic session on Good Work for Fashion, with the Greater London Authority (GLA), London Legacy Development Agency (LLDC), Fashion District and The Trampery.

This event kicked off with an introduction to Good Work for Fashion, addressing the need for social and environmental governance in the sector, resources and support available, and how Good Work Standard accreditation will ensure London remains one of the most innovative and sustainable fashion capitals. Attendees heard from a stellar line-up of speakers, including:

  • Rachel Williamson, Programme Director – Economic Fairness, Greater London Authority
  • Shaun Lowthian, Principal Project Officer – Economic Fairness, Greater London Authority
  • Ryan Yasin, Founder and CEO, Petit Pli
  • Rebecca Morter, Founder and CEO, Lone Design Club

Following a short tea break, there was a series of mini interactive workshops that demonstrated how Good Work for Fashion can be implemented within business practice:

  • Good Social and Environmental Governance with Almira Lardizabal Hussain and Max Smith, Impactful
  • Fair Pay and a London Living Wage with Tessa Griffith, Managing Director, Molly Goddard and Jess Goble, Senior Programme Manager, London Living Wage
  • Better Diversity and Inclusion in the Fashion Sector with Davina Appiagyei, Policy Researcher, Fashion Roundtable
  • Dynamic Internships and Work placements with Jason Gonsalves, Brand Director and Sulay Kelly, Brand Partnerships Executive, The Face and Johanna Lacey, Senior Relationship Manager, A New Direction

To round off, delegates could take the opportunity to sign up to the Good Work Standard, alongside a round up of other initiatives and support available to deliver Good Work for Fashion across the capital.

The Trampery is home to London’s largest campus of fashion studios and facilities across Poplar Works and Fish Island Village. Since 2012, The Trampery has supported more than 1,000 businesses, providing affordable workspace and business support as part of sector-focused facilities across London.
