EVENT: FD x LCF Schools Innovation Challenge 2019 – Teachers Launch

Join us at the Teachers Launch of Schools Innovation Challenge themed around A Store of the Future at Staybridge Suites, 5 – 7pm, 6th March 2018.

ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

Tapping into the imagination of local children, as part of the EAST Education initiative, London College of Fashion and Fashion District will be running a schools innovation prize. The competition hopes to inspire and challenge Key Stage 2 & 3 students to consider how new technologies could change the way we shop.

Between March and June, students will be introduced to new concepts which will challenge them to think creatively, work as a team and build digital and problem solving skills. On June 17th, teams of students will be invited to submit their own concepts for what their own “store of the future” could look like through the use of technology.

Shortlisted entries will be invited to pitch at a celebratory event, where winners will be selected by a panel of industry experts. Generously sponsored by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, there will be six cash prizes with 2 x £1500 for the winning entries and 4 x £500 for the two runners up in each category to support the creative curriculum back in school.

ABOUT THE EVENT

At the launch, we invite you to enjoy drinks and networking with other teachers whilst finding out how new technologies are shaping retail experiences, and how you can use the challenge to inspire students to learn about them.

You will also be the first to receive your teachers guide, which has been developed to help you deliver the challenge in the curriculum. The challenge could integrated cross-curricula but is particularly suited to Art & Design, Design Technology, and Computing. Further information will include: details about the submission, resource links and a film to use in the classroom.

We sincerely hope that you can find the time in your busy schedules to attend our launch, we look forward to seeing you there.

ABOUT US

Fashion District
Fashion District is a fashion innovation hub that will exploit technology, provide fashion space and business support as well as develop fashion skills to create a pipeline of talent. Bringing together fashion, technology, business and education in east London to meet, compete, collaborate and innovate – nurturing talent, generating new jobs and developing new products.

London College of Fashion, UAL
UAL:LCF has been nurturing creative talent for over a century. It believes in using the subject of fashion, and its industrial importance, to shape lives and drive economic and social transformation. In 2022, the college will move to a single site as part of East Bank on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London. It calls this relocation project 4Fashion, not only because we stand for Fashion – but because it’s how we will continue to work with local, national and international partners.

EAST Education
EAST Education want more young people to be aware of and interested in the wide range of jobs available in the future. As the world becomes more automated, fewer traditional jobs will exist, requiring young people to be agile and develop a high level of technical and creative skills. East Bank partners want to help young people to be prepared to meet the challenges of a new economy, new jobs and new opportunities, and have committed to support a number of challenges for young people and schools. Partners inc: LCF, LLDC, V&A, UCL, HereEast, BBC, Sadlers Wells, Wayne McGregor, Loughborough University.

London Legacy Development Corporation
LLDC was formed in April 2012 with the purpose is to use the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of the London 2012 Games and the creation of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to develop a dynamic new heart for east London, creating opportunities for local people and driving innovation and growth in London and the UK.

We would like to give special thanks to Unbail-Rodamco-Westfield for sponsoring the competition prizes and the Staybridge Suites Stratford for sponsoring this event.
