MAKE – Play Capes for Kids Workshop

Saturday, September 25th 10.00-11.00am
Maker’s Space

Part of the London College of Fashion’s 1,000 Coats initiative, exploring how fashion can build communities and inspire social change, learn about upcycling by making a cape with your little superhero (aged 4 – 10), then join in a catwalk show finale. In association with Making for Change, Trashion Factory and Poplar Works.

Making for Change
Established in 2014, Making for Change began as a fashion training and manufacturing unit within HMP Downview women’s prison, equipping participants with skills and qualifications. The next stage will be a community-focused unit in East London, delivering accessible programmes for women from marginalised community groups and female ex-offenders.

Trashion Factory
Taking clothes that would otherwise end up in landfill and refashioning them into made-to-measure wardrobe staples and one-off pieces, Trashion Factory also takes bespoke orders to upcycle beloved items and offers craft workshops to women in the local community.
