Sustainable Sewing with Eco Stitch Club – MAKE

Sunday 8 June
Workshop 1: 12:20 – 14:00
/ Workshop 2: 14:20 – 16:00
Makers Space

Give new life to old materials in this creative upcycling workshop.

Join Eco Stitch Club founders Gillian Lipton and Amanda Riley for a practical and inspiring session on circular fashion. With the help of sewing machines and tablets providing step-by-step instructions, participants will transform discarded fabrics into unique, handcrafted items while learning essential upcycling techniques.

This workshop encourages mindful making, showing how forgotten materials can be repurposed into something beautiful and functional. With a focus on sustainability, attendees will leave with a one-of-a-kind creation and the skills to continue their upcycling journey.

No experience is necessary — just bring your creativity, and everything else will be provided!

Gillian Lipton
Gillian Lipton, co-founder of Eco-Stitch Club, has dedicated her career to making a positive impact. With over 20 years of experience in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, she worked for major fashion retailers like Monsoon, Topshop, and Alexander McQueen. Amanda Riley
Eco-Stitch Club was co-founded by Amanda Riley, a creative and an environmentalist. Age 8 she learned to sew on her grandmas sewing machine & by age 15 had her own label making & upcycling for family & friends. She trained in Fashion & Textiles at Kingston and then set out to work in mainstream fashion in Milan, Hong Kong, India & the US. In 2009 she turned her back on the industry to teach 8-16 year olds how to upcycle at her Fashion Factory studio and since then has implemented over 3000 workshops. Her online course for schools, Fashion Rebellion was produced during lockdown to take her unique workshops to children anywhere & everywhere.
